Regular slime is a cross-linked polymer — PVA chains connected by borate ions into a viscoelastic gel. Magnetic slime adds fine iron powder to this matrix, making the entire gel magnetically responsive. Bring a neodymium magnet close and the slime extends toward it, flows around it, and slowly engulfs it. The iron particles align with the external field, generating a net magnetization that the entire material responds to — the same physics as the Rosensweig instability in true ferrofluid, but at a scale you can touch and shape.
