Arduino Mega 2560 R3 Ultimate Starter Kit — 230-Piece with Projects Guide
The ATmega2560 runs at 16 MHz with 256 KB of flash — enough to implement a real-time PID controller, a data acquisition front-end, or a full MIDI synthesizer on a $10 microcontroller.
The Arduino Mega 2560 uses Microchip's ATmega2560 — an 8-bit AVR RISC architecture executing most instructions in a single clock cycle. Its 54 digital I/O pins (15 PWM-capable), 16 analogue inputs (10-bit ADC at 15 kSa/s), and 4 hardware serial ports make it the preferred platform for physics instrumentation: stepper motor control for spectrometer gratings, thermocouple multiplexing, multi-axis IMU fusion, or PID temperature regulation of a heating plate. The 230-piece component kit includes sensors covering the electromagnetic spectrum: ultrasonic (sonar), IR proximity, Hall effect (magnetic), and LDR (optical).
